There's No Place Like Home, There's No Place Like Home, There's No Place Like Home...

As I was wiping our kitchen table yesterday, the notion of home came to mind. Crazy, I know...

On our kitchen table were the remnants of Hayden's biology project, (he constructed a cell out of a large styro-foam ball and half a golf ball, it ended up looking pretty good, I especially liked how all it's different parts had labels attached by toothpicks...)

and as I was cleaning the table, pulling off bits of tape and a glob of hot glue, I looked closer at our table and noticed all the other reminders of past projects...some pink paint from Taryn's paint by numbers, a trace of glitter in the seam from Kaitlin's Christmas attempt to decorate our home "Buddy the Elf" style...

And the sight of that table, with all its imperfections, paint, and glue reminded me of what home is...

Home is having a table you can make a mess at...
Home is having a coffee table you can put your feet on...
Home is having a couch you can take a nap on...

I love home...

No matter how large or small or how empty or how extravagant, truly, there is no place like home.

Thanks for this blog Deb, I now look at my dining table in a whole new light. It is the small things and the memories of our kids' childhood in the house that makes a home a "home". Love ya!
