We Have A Winner!

(its about time!)

Look for me at church, I'll have your "movie night" goodies!

Saturday nights around our homestead is usually "movie night"...we rent a dvd and eat "theater cuisine" (popcorn, cokes, sno-caps, jujubees...our dentist loves us)

and since the last time we took our family to the actual movie theater (to see "Star Trek" which was great btw) I nearly keeled over when the ticket gal rang up our total (nearly $50), it got me thinking...

"why not have a movie night giveaway?"

So here's the giveaway...

(1) Orville Redenbacher's Movie Theater Butter Popcorn Tub 3.9 0z
(1) box of Whoppers The Original Malted Milk Balls 5 oz
(1) box of Junior Mints 4 oz
(1) box of Sweet Tarts 6 oz
(6) 8 oz bottles of Coca-Cola
(1) New DVD "Pride and Prejudice" starring Keira Knightley
(and Kaitlin's absolute favorite movie)
(1) New DVD "The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring"
starring Elijah Wood

Here's what you need to do... leave a comment to the question, just one comment per person please (and if you leave a potty mouth comment a.k.a. leave a comment that is inappropriate, it'll get deleted--) and when time's up, I'll email Mr. Spock and ask what the logical number would be to pick...no wait, he didn't answer my last email... I guess I'll just pick a number out of a hat...anyway...

The giveaway ends Monday, June 1st at 5:00 p.m. Eastern

(yes that's right...it ends on Monday!)
and the question?

"If you were a Star Trek character...

naw, just kidding...it's a easy one...it's

"What's your favorite movie?"

so get your answer in soon...before Scotty beams this post outta here

A Psalm

Oh come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us make a joyful noise to the
rock of our salvation!

Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to him
with songs of praise!

For the Lord is a great God,
and a great King above all gods.

In his hand are the depths of the earth;
the heights of the mountains are his also.

The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.

Oh come, let us worship and bow down;
let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!

For he is our God,
and we are the people of his pasture,
and the sheep of his hand.

Psalm 95:1-7 ESV

Taryn And The Prom...'that they may teach the young women to...'

Another milestone in the life of Taryn...
her first prom was last Friday evening...
but I didn't want to share the ordinary prom pictures
you usually see...

the pinning of the corsage...
(no flowers or boy this year)

the posing next to the stretch limo...
(she and her friends went in our Honda minivan)

the primping and pampering of the day...
(we were running late)

no, I wanted to share some pictures that have a lot more meaning...
the pictures I wanted to share
are of some of the Titus 2 women in Taryn's life...

There's Caca, Nancy, Barb, and Summer...
(Kara, you're missing !)
(I'll have Taryn put the dress back on
and we'll snap a few at church!)

Each of these ladies have
and loved
Taryn thru her adolescence...
and she and I are forever thankful for each one!

Life With Hayden: Homeboy Got A Cold

I've been treating my blog like a high school cafeteria...I found another table to sit at (Facebook) and I've been ignoring my friend at our usual table (the blog)...can I sit here again?

So I'm home with Hayden this morning, he's got a cold (although he is convinced he has the Swine flu...he's a bit of a hypchondriac...I don't know where he gets that from...of course I thought a blackhead was a tumor one time but that doesn't mean he gets that from me...)

I've been a mom for almost 20 years now
and one thing I know for sure...
boys are different from girls when it comes to being home sick...

our girls always want chicken broth, toast, ginger ale...

this morning, Hayden has eaten a whole can of cold ravioli, a couple of toaster strudels, and a mixing bowl full of cereal...and he's only been up for about 48 minutes.

our girls like to lay on the couch, sometimes with a book or a magazine, watching "Pride and Prejudice"...

this morning, Hayden is plopped in the Lazy Boy, has no interest in his library book and is watching someone get blown up on "The Dark Knight"

our girls sometimes like to do a little arts & crafts project to pass the time, maybe a paint by number or crocheting a little something...

this morning, Hayden wanted to go outside and shoot his paint ball gun at the pine trees in our front yard...

maybe he'll feel better tomorrow and can go back to school...before I have to sit through "The Terminator"

A simple shopping story...

Her cart was dripping. The grocery cart she was pushing around the produce section of the big box store I had just entered was drippin...
