Happy 30th of June!

We just got back from our town's 4th of July fireworks. We always have our 4th of July celebration a few days before the actual 4th...I don't really know why, just one of those small town things I guess...
I love living in our small town...sure you have to drive 40 miles to the nearest mall, but interesting things happen in a small town that never occur in the big city...like this morning...
I got a phone call from a friend and by the end of the conversation, I had been given a detailed list of every thing Mark had purchased at Walmart yesterday...when Donald Trump shops at his Walmart does anyone take notice of what he buys? I don't think so...(and why Mark bought clothespins, I still don't know)
or like the last time I asked for directions to someone's house in our small town...they included a pond, a dirt road, a mailbox in the shape of a bass and a warning..."if you go over the railroad tracks, you've gone too far". I don't think lost drivers in New York City get such detailed directions...they probably just get yelled at and honked at...
and in a small town there is the comforting knowledge that if one of your children misbehaves or steps out of line, and you're not around to see it, you'll know about it before they pull into the driveway...I doubt Lindsey Lohan or Paris Hilton would have gotten into so much trouble if their mamas had raised them in a small town...
Life is good in our small town...

Yes, small town living is interesting so I've learned. Love it when company is coming and if it has rained we have to make sure they either have 4WD or they call us when they're almost here so we know when to expect them just in case they get stuck on the dirt road!
