I'm Dreaming Of A Green Springtime

My mother has a green thumb, she can grow anything, anywhere...

I did not inherit that wonderful gift however...

no, my agricultural talent can only be compared to a Stephen King novel...horrifying tales of brown, curled up plants, dry, arid pots of soil and overwatered, fungus covered vegetables...Plants have been known to quake and cower when I walk through the garden section of my local discount store, fearful that they may be "chosen" to go home with me.

Growing plants and vegetables is just not a talent I possess...but for some reason, every spring I think to myself, "I want a vegetable garden, hanging pots, landscaping, fruit trees, whatever is on sale at the garden center, I'm gonna try to grow..." and every spring, I convince my loving husband to join me in my delusion...I ask Mark to build vegetable beds, load and unload dirt, set up sprinkler systems...you name it, he's done it.

and it always ends up the same...lots of money, time, and sweat washed away...
but ever faithful, I decided to try again, but this time I was only going to buy 3 or 4 plants and put them in dry wall buckets right outside our front door, so I would see them everyday and not forget to water, weed, etc.

and here's what happened...

man, what a thrill that would be...nope, not to be this year...

here's what really happened...

oh well, there's always next March...
