Psalm 8

O Lord, our Lord

The Holy One of Heaven
is mine...and I am His

how majestic is your name in all the earth!

the giant, towering redwoods,
the vast, endless oceans,
the massive, snowcapped mountains...
none compare to the majesty of His name

You have set your glory above the heavens.

imagine what the angels must see.

Out of the mouth of babies and infants,
you have established strength because of your foes,
to still the enemy and the avenger.

He uses
the small,
the weak,
the unlikely...

to silence
the haughty,
the proud,
the arrogant...

When I look at your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,

With the simple words, "Let there be..."
the night sky became filled with brilliance.

what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him?

and yet He is not blinded by that brilliance...
He sees man, the creature made for His pleasure,
and His thoughts rest upon us.

Yet you have made him a little lower
that the heavenly beings
and crowned him with glory and honor.

We who have received abundant kindness
and undeserved favor from the King,

You have given dominion over the works of your hands;
you have put all things under his feet,

must turn always to Him for wisdom...

all sheep and oxen,
and also the beasts of the field,
the birds of the heavens;
and the fish of the sea,
whatever passes along the paths of the seas.

in the entrustment of His creatures, great and small.

O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Grand and Lofty
Royal and Splendid
Regal and Noble
...is His Name.
