Summer Days ~ Yarn-O-Rama

My haul from my trip to the craft store.

I've been busy crocheting dishcloths for some friends and maybe a small business opportunity but this afternoon my fingers said "Enough! We want to blog!"

Okay, my fingers really didn't say that. That would be kinda scary. But I'm sure if they could talk, that's exactly what they would have said.

I learned to crochet when I was about 9 years old. That summer, all my mother heard out of me was, "There's nothing to do, there's nothing on TV (we had 3 channels back then), there's no one to ride bikes with, there's nobody just-fill-in-the-blank". And that was first day of summer vacation. Around 10:15 am.

Later that afternoon my mother figured out what she could give me to shut me up occupy my time. She sat me down, handed me a skein of yellow yarn and a H hook and showed me how to crochet a chain.

She never heard another peep out of me the rest of the summer. I spent the next three months crocheting chains of all colors and gauges. I crocheted so many chains that by the time Open House rolled around, we could have wrapped the school half a dozen times with chain after chain of cheap yarn.

And you'll never guess what I brought for Show & Tell!

I used to love to crochet but haven't done it in years. Do you think it's one of those things I could pick right back up? Surely there's a youtube video to help me remember : )

Absolutely Joyce! I recently taught a beginner class at our church and that was one of the tools I told the ladies about, just youtube it if you need help :)

A simple shopping story...

Her cart was dripping. The grocery cart she was pushing around the produce section of the big box store I had just entered was drippin...
